Niche Retreats - 7 luxury holiday cottages for two

UK holiday cottages for two

February 2019

Often couples have to choose larger properties to achieve the luxury surroundings they desire, but not when staying with Niche Retreats.

We thought it would be good to show off some of the luxury holiday cottages for two. Here’s my top seven from Niche Retreats, across England and Wales.

The Padstow Cottage, Padstow Town

Sink into luxury at this gorgeous renovated cottage in foodie heaven Padstow. The Padstow Cottage revels in exposed brickwork, rich velvet finishes, and estuary views behind a modest Cornish exterior. This pretty fishing village, still bustling with the daily catch, will woo you with its winding streets, the scent of sea air and the coves of the coastline that call you to rock pools or water sports adventures. Home of Rick Stein, the village is brimming with independent, excellent eateries.

Sleeps two plus two pets, from £675 for three nights or from £1,131 for seven nights.

Mole End, Southwold

New to market, Mole End is a lovingly restored Victorian cottage tucked away in a quiet mews, just a two minute amble from the beach in stunning Southwold. No disappointing self-catering experience here with a DeVol kitchen packed with Riedel glassware, Burleigh crockery, Wüsthof knives, Le Creuset cookware, and Masterclass bakeware. Sonos speakers in the shower room mean you can sing to your heart’s content.

New to the portfolio this year are the triple pleasures of Holkham Hall’s grand Palmers Folly, South Lodge and The Triumphal Arch.

Sink into understated luxury at these extraordinary 18th-century Grade I listed buildings on the magnificent Holkham Estate, which extends through woodland onto Holkham’s famous sweep of golden sand. The Arch was designed by the renowned architect, William Kent, to impress travellers passing through to the North Norfolk coast. Guests are given a sumptuous breakfast hamper on arrival, and 10% off at the Estate’s fabulous Victoria Inn, a Soho House-vibe restaurant serving delicious, seasonal food from dawn until dusk.

Palmers Folly sleeps two plus two pets, from £514 for three nights of £857 for a week.

South Lodge sleeps two plus two pets, from £558 for three nights, or from £930 for a week.

The Triumphal Arch sleeps two plus two pets from £459 for three nights, or from £765 for a week.

Tir Bach Iago

Sink into a bath made for two after your day out on the hills at rustic industrial luxury bolthole, Tir Bach Iago. Near a hidden sandy beach and the Wales Coast path, this gorgeous hideaway is romantic and packed with interiors inspiration. Just a few miles from Aberdaron at the tip of the Llyn Peninsula.

Catch a boat to the sacred island of Enlli (Bardsey Island). Travel together with friends but retain your privacy with two other 5 star cottages on site, all facing away from each other and with separate patio areas.

A gallery wall filled with original artwork, floor to ceiling windows, flagstone floors and vaulted ceilings nod to this building’s past life as a school house. The village feel of its location in the oldest part of Swanage adds to the charm.

Explore mile upon mile of Jurassic Coast on the South West Coastal Path, then return home for a BBQ in the pretty suntrap garden.
